SUSTAINABILITY & ETHICS - OUR SUPPLIERS
SUPPLIERS FOR OUR MEN'S RANGE
Sustainable practice
Our suppliers are committed to not only provide high quality garments, but also to ensure that they know how every aspect of each garment is made and manufactured. They not only aim to make durable garments that last, but also source their fabrics responsibly and work with globally recognised partners to make sure their supply chain is transparent and workforces are protected.
Source responsibly
Our suppliers work with cotton suppliers that have the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification which tests every component of a garment for harmful substances before being used in production. STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the world’s best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety.
Ethical standards
Our suppliers are members of SMETA which is a global audit methodology that gives a closer view of the labour, health and safety, environmental practices, and business ethics of their suppliers.
SMETA is Sedex’s social auditing methodology, enabling businesses to assess their sites and suppliers to understand working conditions in their supply chain. Social audits enable businesses to assess their suppliers, monitor health and safety for workers, and signal zero tolerance of human rights abuses such as child and forced labour.
Better supply chain
Our suppliers work with AMFORI, the leading global business association for open and sustainable trade and have adopted their Business Social Compliance Initiative method to monitor their global supply chain. BSCI is a leading supply chain management system that supports companies to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories in their global supply chains.
SUPPLIERS FOR OUR WOMEN'S RANGE
The apparel supply chain is a long and complex one.
The main component – the fabric – starts at the cotton field, or the merino sheep, or the lab. From there it takes a long journey through the stages of yarn spinning, knitting or weaving, dyeing and several sub-processes; before it can be cut, sewn, & trimmed; then final quality control and packing.
While parts of this journey are highly automated, others – particularly the final cut / make / trim (CMT) – are not; with the majority of garment sewing across the globe happening at the hands of skilled workers.
To manage this complexity as ethically and transparently as possible, our supplier maintains a small, tight-knit supply chain, with partner factories in Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan and China. They aim to build long-term, ongoing relationships with these suppliers and work with them with an eye for their interests, and the interests of their people, as well as our own.
Our supplier’s manufacturing Code of Conduct sets out the minimum requirements their suppliers must commit to. This ensures workers are protected and treated with dignity and fairness. They also expect suppliers to participate in assessments and audits by professional, independent audit or verification firms. They recognize several main audit methodologies including FLA, WRAP, SMETA/Sedex, Amfori BSCI, and encourage suppliers to proactively maintain certification.
Our suppliers are always looking to improve, and they encourage their suppliers to go above and beyond these standards.
OUR HOODIE SUPPLIERS
From the conception of their brand “doing the right thing” has been important to our supplier’s team and customers. They believe it is the responsibility of every individual to be a good citizen, and while being a small player in a global market can at times be daunting, they believe their impact on human rights can be just as significant as larger operations and that we can all make a difference.
amfori
Our supplier has recently joined the Amfori BSCI initiative. The Business Social Compliance Initiative is a leading supply chain management system that supports companies to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories and farms in their global supply chains.
Better Cotton Initiative
The Better Cotton Initiative exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. BCI aims to transform cotton production worldwide by developing Better Cotton as a sustainable mainstream commodity.
Reemi
Reemi is a social enterprise and non-profit that exists to see humans flourish everywhere, with 100% of their profits going towards helping others.
With a combined passion for health education and addressing women’s empowerment, Reemi strive to break the cycle and create change to women’s health and wellbeing in the global garment industry with a focus on women's health, providing educational and sustainable products that work for all cultures.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification is designed to ensure the effect the dyeing industry has on the environment is minimised and the garments are safe for consumers as well as the people who make and sell them.
Sourcing
Our supplier seeks to find and work with factory owners and management who share their values, operate a culture of dignity and respect, are in for the long term, and who like them are willing to embrace change and continuous improvement.
Responsible Sourcing
Our supplier is continuously developing their Responsible Sourcing Strategy. They have employed an experienced Ethical Sourcing specialist to shape and prioritise their strategy, to train and guide them through the more complex issues and importantly to drive the momentum.
